The last couple of posts were about new makeup launches, but what about the wonderful world of fragrance? Recently Gucci launched a new ladies perfume called “Bamboo”.

a fragrance for the modern gucci woman, gucci bamboo is powerful yet feminine; a blend of exotic florals with deep woody notes.” – Gucci

When I saw the fragrance in the perfumery I stopped in my tracks, the bottle is stunning. Multifaceted. The shiny silver bottle top resembles not only the fragrances name, but also creates dimension in the overall aesthetic. Strong bold lines in the form of a diamond contrasting against the smooth round bamboo shoot. Inside the glass bottle the pale liquid dances around creating something absolutely beautiful, and extremely feminine.

The scent:

Top notes of bergamot , heart notes of casablanca lily and ylang ylang extra-comoros and base notes of sandalwood”  – Gucci

The mix gives the scent a wonderful citrus feel, although woody and intense. Tahitian vanilla creates a lovely sweet smell without being over powering. If you adore floral scents then this might be something to covet.

After Bamboo settled on my skin the scent was soft but noticeable. I have to say this one is on my wishlist! I felt like this was a very sensual fragrance perhaps because of the woody sandalwood base.

Have you tried it?

I was recently invited to the launch of “Dolce” the beautiful new fragrance by Dolce and Gabbana. I am completely in love with this perfume and everything about it.

for her

“Feminine and fresh, Dolce & Gabbana Dolce embodies the delicate balance between timeless craftsmanship and innovation in the art of perfumed composition. Dolce is one’s personal touch, signature scent. It epitomises the simplicity of a result obtained thanks to a complex process: the same one needed to create a finely-embroidered dress. The nobility of the soul, the elegance of every day gestures, the joy of sharing from generation to generation, and the effortless perfection of a single white flower. This is the picture of Sicily that I carry within me, and the one captured in this delicate fragrance” – Domenico Dolce.

Invited by VJ Salomone who are the local importers, The event took place in a beautiful stately 18th century family home called “Villa Bologna” in Attard. As we arrived we was welcomed by waiters bearing trays of Proseco and two stunning models Anne Marijn and Julia who lightly spritzed the gorgeous scent onto our arms. I later found out that they form part of Models M, one of which (Julia) was strikingly similar to the model Kate King used in the campaign. Anne Marijn showed us towards the garden where the event was being held.

It was my first visit to Villa Bologna and already impressed by the beautiful facade when we reached the gardens, it took my breath away, the venue is simply stunning! Without a doubt the perfect backdrop to unveil the latest scent.

During the welcoming speech Joanna Salomone (shown above) told us about the romantic vision of a love story behind the fragrance and how the scent was captured using Headspace technology. A innovative technology which captures the exact scent of the flower when it is in full bloom without having to cut it and grind the petals to extract the essential oil. This is a wonderful innovation which I hope other brands will follow suit.

“This is a special species of White Amaryllis which grows solely in the Fynbos region of South Africa and has a rich and generous odour, where other white Amaryllis found elsewhere do not. The name originates from the Greek word “amarysso”, meaning:  “I give light”. It has wide, trumpet blooms. The buds grow at different speeds so each will have a different intensity of scent. Dolce blends this into a fragrance for the very first time.” Dolce & Gabbana

It was a really wonderful event, and it was amazing that they managed to get the White Amaryllis shipped from South Africa! The event was well organised and I managed to catch up with some of the other local bloggers.

me and bloggersL-R: Dorianne, Elle, and me.

The event left me lusting for the fragrance, more so as we was given a wonderful gift…

giftThe shower gel, the body lotion and a sample of the perfume.

I couldn’t wait to run a long bath and use them!
Turns out that the scent agrees with me, because I got so many compliments. I had to buy the fragrance… I bought the 50ml which retails for 83 euro. A little bit of luxury that I will be proud to call my signature scent. It’s fresh floral and sweet without being over powering. I adore it.

The packaging is very elegant and simplistic. The box is white with the Dolce signature. I adore that the script is a replica of Domenico Dolce’s father’s own signature. I think it shows how much love went into the creation of this fragrance.

The actual fragrance is bottled in “thick, clear glass with softly curved lines lending a contemporary design edge. The flacon reveals sparkling glints of the vibrant green juice, as fresh and crisp as the Neroli leaves within. The flower stopper pays tribute to Sicilian customs, crafted to portray the marzipan sculptures seen in traditional Sicilian confectioners. The bud is perfection itself, as unique as the singular mix of ingredients defining Dolce. The petals fan out in three rows, with colours graduating from milky-white, through to cream, and soft pink at the centre“. – Dolce & Gabbana

The Notes

For those of you who are interested in how the notes are the base is Cashmeran making it musky and sensual, the heart notes contain White Water Lily and bold White Daffodil blend perfectly with the full-bodied White Amaryllis, lending the fragrance it’s beautiful fresh floral scent. The top notes contain Neroli and Papaya giving the fragrance a sweet twist.

Ladies next time you are near a perfume counter ask to try it on!

Winter Fragrance Wishlist

I love the change of seasons!

All the beautiful fall collections. Cosy nights snuggled under a blanket watching a movie. Dressing up for numerous social events! That’s why updating your Christmas perfume is so important…

Remember “A woman’s perfume tells more about her than her handwriting”Christian Dior

christmas perfume wishlist

1. Giorgio Armani Si – A 2013 launch Si has a Patchouli and Vanilla base making the fragrance sweet and feminine. Combined with a Jasmine and Rose heart and Mandarin top notes making it slightly fruity I can’t describe it other than it’s intense and soft at the same time.  I fell for it whilst standing next to some one else spraying it in a perfumery and I haven’t had it off my mind since!

2. Gold Life Thread‘s by La Prairie – Launched in 2009 this has been one of my favourites for the past 3 years. I always make sure I have a bottle even though it’s quite an expensive fragrance ( priced at 100 euros for 50ml). It is one of my favourite Christmas gift’s to myself and I get compliments every time I wear it.  Like Si it’s base is made up of Patchouli and Vanilla but the fragrances heart is made up of cinnamon and ylang-ylang. The top notes contain plum and clove making it a warm sweet spicy perfume.

3. Guerlain L’instant Magic – Launched in 2007 L’instant Magic is powdery, musky and floral. It’s truly a beautiful perfume with a white musk base, bergamot top notes and a rose and freesia heart. I think this perfume is one of the more intense choices, intoxicating and extremely sensual. I think this is the “sexier” fragrance choice.

4. Coco Mademoiselle by CHANEL – Launched in 2001 this is very much a “modern” Classic Coco Mademoiselle is delicate with a floral heart made up of Rose and Jasmine. This fragrance is luxurious and chic. It also contain’s base notes of vetiver, vanilla and white musk and the top notes are Sicilian oranges and grapefruit. I always feel so elegant whilst wearing this perfume, since it’s more “fresh” I feel comfortable wearing it during the day as well as the night.

Leave me a comment telling me what’s your favourite winter fragrance!

Versace Eros Launch

Now that I have your attention… I present to you the new fragrance from Versace.

“I designed my new fragrance EROS for a man who is both heroic and passionate, like a Greek god. Eros is a scent which depicts and emphasizes power and sensuality” – Donatella Versace.

The perfume:

EROS is made up of three notes.

The top is made with a combination of mint leaves, Italian lemon zest and green apple giving the fragrance a fresh accord. The second notes are sensual and oriental giving the fragrance a warm feel characterised by Tonka beans and Ambroxan. Going deeper into the fragrance the base notes are made from Cedarwood, Vetyver and Oak Moss This gives the perfume its masculine woody aroma.

Overall this is a beautiful sexy and masculine fragrance belongs to the “Fresh, Oriental and Woody” family.

What do I think of the perfume:

As soon as I walked into the building I was enveloped by this scent. I have always been a fan of the Versace fragrance line (I adore “Bright Crystal” for woman and “Homme” for men). It is a warm and slightly sweet smell that hit’s you but not over powering or suffocating. I really think Donatella know’s how to do sexy this is extremely seductive.

Although some perfumes can be seasonal I really think this is an all round scent as the fresher top notes mixed with the woody base notes give a really nice balance. This is a also a sophisticated scent which I could imagine being worn by man who is in control.

Every detail down to the design of the bottle shows the history and root’s of Versace.

Typically Versace the bottle’s colour is blue (Like Homme or Eau Fraiche), keeping in tradition Versace has also returned to using the “MEDUSA” logo at the centre of the bottle this symbolises strength and roots of the brand’s traditional values and a symbol of the Versace mansion.

The Event:

The location couldn’t be more perfect set in the heart of a Roman Villa in Rabat called “Domus Romana” we was greeted by two very handsome men wearing open shirt’s to display rippling muscles.

Imported exclusively by X-treme and available in FRANK‘s it was nice to be greeted by familiar faces and gave me the opportunity to catch up over a glass of white wine (or two).  The presentation was done by Priscilla Bonnici this was her first presentation to the press and she did an amazing job making us all laugh and she even let us watch the advert three times 😉

I would like to thank all of the people who made tonight so special, launches take a lot of planning and hard work and I am really grateful to have been invited.

There was lot’s of goodies for us including a gift set of EROS which I can’t wait to spray over my bf and seduce him – after all EROS is the god of love…
