The last couple of posts were about new makeup launches, but what about the wonderful world of fragrance? Recently Gucci launched a new ladies perfume called “Bamboo”.

a fragrance for the modern gucci woman, gucci bamboo is powerful yet feminine; a blend of exotic florals with deep woody notes.” – Gucci

When I saw the fragrance in the perfumery I stopped in my tracks, the bottle is stunning. Multifaceted. The shiny silver bottle top resembles not only the fragrances name, but also creates dimension in the overall aesthetic. Strong bold lines in the form of a diamond contrasting against the smooth round bamboo shoot. Inside the glass bottle the pale liquid dances around creating something absolutely beautiful, and extremely feminine.

The scent:

Top notes of bergamot , heart notes of casablanca lily and ylang ylang extra-comoros and base notes of sandalwood”  – Gucci

The mix gives the scent a wonderful citrus feel, although woody and intense. Tahitian vanilla creates a lovely sweet smell without being over powering. If you adore floral scents then this might be something to covet.

After Bamboo settled on my skin the scent was soft but noticeable. I have to say this one is on my wishlist! I felt like this was a very sensual fragrance perhaps because of the woody sandalwood base.

Have you tried it?

Product Review: Givenchy Le Rouge 303 Corail Décolleté

This week has been crazy and rather tough so as a little treat I bought myself an item that’s been on my wishlist for a very very long time (here and here).

I wrote about the launch of Givenchy’s Le Rouge way back in March 2013, and then again this January when it was featured as part of a make-up look. You could say I have pretty much lusted after this range of lipsticks for more than a year. Which made it the most rewarding kind of treat.

I think the casing is simply stunning, extremely elegant and sleek made from real black leather and silver catches. This just shows the attention to detail Givenchy pays to produce the perfect luxury accessory.

I love the click button to open, and how it’s embossed with the logo pretty much everywhere.

This lipstick has a very smooth cream almost gel texture with rich pigments that just glides onto the lips. I am impressed by the finish even though its matte it doesn’t feel heavy or drying on the lips. The lipstick managed to hold well whilst eating. As a general rule I am able to keep it on for almost 5 hours when being careful although the ave amount that it will last though is about 3 hours as seriously I need to eat and drink and life is not made for being careful 🙂

I just adore the textures of these lipsticks, it’s a semi matte but so moist and creamy. I don’t think I have met a lipstick quite like it. I love quite a few shades from the collection, and so picking a colour was really difficult.

Here you can see me wearing colours 204 “Rose Boudoir“, 306 “Carmin Escarpin”  (photos from January) and 303 “Corail Décolleté”  (pictured today – funnily enough wearing same makeup style) which is the one I bought. I love all three! The 204 is a beautiful natural dusky pink and the 306 is a gorgeous red… However since it’s spring I thought a pop of colour would be the best choice. I have to admit the true colours don’t really show well on the camera. The 204 is more pink and the 303 is brighter…

I think this is one of the most expensive in the market and retails at 33 euro and it’s the only thing which has stopped me buying this lipstick until now. I get drawn back to the Givenchy stand week after week and I just adore everything about it so to hell with the price!

How can I explain my love for this lipstick in words? Let’s just say if you have been following the blog you would know that I hardly wear more than a swipe of gloss or lipbalm and I never bother with lip liners… Most products I get bored with pretty quickly and the only thing I changed my mind about over the last year has been the colours. I do wish that they would introduce more colours to the range. So to commit after lusting for it for so long means I really do adore this product. It’s a rather high price tag, but the texture and the longevity almost makes up for it, my credit card isn’t happy but I am!

It feels great to take this off my wishlist! I have to award this lipstick full marks… And now I promise not to splurge for a while and continue reviewing the products I bought whilst I was on holiday.

I know it’s Wednesday but if you stand on your tip toes and look ahead…you can just about see Friday! I hope your having a great week!

Spring 2014 Wish List

spring wishlistSpring Wish List

One thing that I love is seeing all the new collections arriving, I am like a kid in a candy shop and this is a mix of all things wonderful. Some are on my wishlist because they are Spring 2014 collections, others are there just because I adore them or are cult classics which I am dying to get my hands on…

1. NARS Orgasm Blush:
Since NARS doesn’t import to Malta (yet- I’m always hopeful), this is just a bit out of my reach. I hope to get this into my beauty stash some day soon! I have seen so many blog posts and reviews and the hype about this product just makes me more and more curious to try it against my skintone. I think blush is one of the hardest products for me to buy since naturally I have pink (red) tones to my skin.

2. ESSIE Nail Polish:
This is another product that doesn’t import, so the want factor is increased by 1000 times! I love seeing the colours being posted and I am soo jealous of the girls that can buy it. The colours shown here are: “Resort Fling”, “Under The Twilight”, “Jazzy Jubliant”, “Go Overboard”, and “The Girls Are Out”.

3.  GUERLAIN Météorites Perles:
I have always loved L’or which is a primer with 24k gold. It always makes my skin feel soft and beautiful. I would love to try out the météorites perles. Inside it contains pearls of yellow gold to revive dull complexions, pearls of white gold to illuminate the complexion and rose gold for an anti-tiredness action.

4. LAURA MERCIER Crème Eyeliner:
I recently had a client for a Bridal makeup who brought her own products with her, the Crème Eyeliner was one of those products and I loved using it. I love even more the colours on their website: “Violet”, “Canard”, “Cobalt”, “Indigo” and of course “Noir”. I want them all!

5. GIVENCHY Le Rouge Lipstick:
I adore these, the textures are beautiful and I can say are very long-lasting, I have tried them out a few times, you can even read my review here and here. It’s been in the market for about a year now and I still have a soft spot for it but haven’t taken the plunge to buy it.

6. ESTEE LAUDER Sumptuous Infinite Mascara:
I love Lauder’s products and this is their latest mascara, I know its going to be great because I have used others Lauder mascaras from the same Sumptuous range. This one promises Daring Length + Volume, what else could a girl want?

7. CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre:
These two shades 92 + 93 are form part of the Spring 2014 collection. It’s a long wear creamy eyeshadow with just the right amount of sparkle. These colours are gorgeous sadly “93 IMPULSION” (that pretty pink) is a limited edition.

8.  GUERLAIN Terra Ora:
I have been a huge fan of the Terracotta range for several years, I have tried the multi-toned Brunettes bronzer and the single-toned bronzer. I love them & they last ages! Using every day the multi tone will last me about a year where as I am currently using the single tone and its been a year and half! I think the multi tone uses quicker because the different textures tend to break up after a while. But either way they are beautiful and Guerlain’s Terracotta line has a special place in my heart. I think my next purchase has to be the Terra Ora isn’t it stunning?

9. URBAN DECAY Naked3:
Unless you have been living under a rock the past couple of months there is no way you haven’t heard about the Naked3 palette from UD, it has been lighting up the blogosphere like a wildfire. I have the Naked2 and I haven’t worn a single shadow since getting it, seriously it is that impressive…

10. BOBBI BROWN Nude Glow Collection Eyeshadow Quads:
I cant help but adore the super sparkle and nude tones from the “Nude Eye Palette” and the “Bronze Eye Palette” I think they would be perfect all round shades easy to wear for every day and to dress up. I am in LOVE with the advertising featuring Katie Holmes.

11. OCC Lip Tar:
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics,  I think that has to be the most awesome name for a makeup brand, I have seen these on a few blogs recently. I picked the FEMME- True baby pink from the colour charts but some of the bolder colours like the RX- True cyan blue are just mind-blowing!

What’s your must have wish list items?
