Red-y For The Festival is a stunning creamy red from Gelish.
It has a wonderful coverage which makes this bright red stand out.

Although this is classified as a Christmas red I think it will be very popular throughout the year, as it’s what I like to think of as a true red. It’s not to pink or too orange. Its a beautiful sexy red, something to make Santa blush…

Would you keep this colour for the holiday’s or dare to wear it all year round?

Hey beauties!
So anyone who saw Mondays Muse post knew I was going to get my hair done this week! I have been really happy with my colour and I didn’t want to change much, but felt I needed a new shape.

So I kept my brunette base, and renewed my highlights.
I love my hair dresser Clinton, at first I found the lights a little too bright, so I spoke to him about my concerns, and arranged it in the afternoon. Clinton applied a toner that was 2 shades darker, it made a huge difference! Even though the change was subtle I felt more blended, more “me”. The end result is fabulous. It’s great having a stylist who listens when your not happy with something and does his best to correct it even though they are busy.

That’s what customer service is, ensuring each and every client leaves happy, comfortable and satisfied.

I have found him brilliant for changing colours, I’ve gone from red to blonde to brunette under his care, and he always listens to what I want to do next and advises me how.

This was when the lights were a little too bright for my liking just to show you that even though it wasn’t my preferred colour it still looked good:

I will try to take another photo tomorrow to show you how it’s looking now, maybe you wont notice the difference, but I feel it. I am glad I had the confidence to let him know how I was feeling, when I was younger I always felt “shy” to say something in case I insulted my stylist.

I cut a good amount from the back but left my layers to grow out, so that I can attempt to cut my hair a little something like this:

long bob

This might be a long process, since my front is currently shorter than the back and the way I want it is the other way around. But I have a plan and it’s in motion. 😉

Long bob for the win!

The Autumn Hairstyle Edition

Very very soon have my next hair appointment, and so like most women all around the world, I turned to Pinterest for inspiration. This week it’s all about styles I love and might surprise myself with. I can be very spontaneous when it comes to my hair 😉 So who knows how I might leave my stylists chair…

After all they do say “change is good for the soul”...
It’s so tempting to get a new colour/style for a new season! The only thing I know for sure is I don’t want a fringe, its taken me forever to grow mine out.

Whilst most the girls are lightening their hair I am craving rich dark tones.

I have been thinking about going darker closer to my base colour for a while… I love having highlights as I think it gives hair texture and placed properly can really brighten up your features. Solid colour’s look un-natural and I’m getting fed up of ombre its so 2012.

my hair haircare posing

Since I was rather blonde before I expect this colour to fade a few shades to a lighter brown especially since I wash my hair frequently, which is one of the reasons my fabulous hairdresser Clinton (I can’t sing his praises loud enough check out his facebook) decided to go for a dark brown…

I am aiming for that sexy sun kissed look… All I need now is the tan!

Here was my inspiration

In the past Clinton has had control of changing my hair from bright red to blonde and back to a brunette! It’s been a wonderful hair colour adventure.

Just to remind you how I looked before:

If I didn’t have to be more conservative for work I would totally rock pink tresses again!

Journey to Wonderland: Dior Product Review

Dior has to be the most fashion forward cosmetic brand, each product has been created to be seriously stylish and trendsetting. Today I am so excited to have two beautiful products in front of me. The new “Fluid Stick” and the reinvented “Vernis” by Dior.

gloss and polish

The Fluid Stick:

“Dior has created a pure object of desire, with an ingenious design for all those who know how to cultivate the art of surprise.
The illusion is maintained until the case is opened and an applicator emerges that is steeped in colour and as precise and easy to use as a lipstick…” – Dior

A fluid hybrid, with the high impact colour and long wear of a classic lipstick in one sweep of a gloss available in 16 draw dropping shades.

Gel Coat resins with intense purity combined with a techno-polymer transform each coat of lacquer into a film as smooth and shiny as glass. Enriched with organic silicon strengthens the nail surface for extra-long wear. The techno-polymer creates a seamless bond between the nail and the lacquer for really long staying power. Formulated without toluene, formaldehyde, phthalates or camphor.” – Dior

The recently revamped formula gives an ultra shiny long wearing “Gel” finish with 30 to die for colours taken from the catwalk.

No collection would be complete without the IT shades “Pandore“, “Adventure“, “Wonderland” and “Mirage” I will be reviewing the colour 575 Wonderland.

Both the “Fluid Stick” and the “Vernis” have beautiful packaging, they really are stunning products to look at. Every single attention to detail just screams elegance and luxury which Dior are notorious for in their collections.

The most impressive has to be the “Fluid Stick” packaged to look like a lipstick in a silver and transparent casing. Then when you twist the cap the gloss applicator pops out ready to coat the lips in gloss like shine. The applicator has a soft rounded tip to help with precision.

The nail polish has a very modern packaging with a silver cap and a square bottle which is modern and elegant and the brush has been changed to give a one stroke effect.

Colour and shine come together as one for maximum impact with intense, long-wearing lip stain pigments directly encapsulated in spheres of gloss. Dior Addict Fluid Stick does not contain wax, but water for maximum lightness, an immediate fresh effect and addictive comfort… Fluid Stick Dior

When I apply the lipgloss I get a really good coat of colour and the texture feels really unique it has a creamy but firm texture which I can feel “hugging”my lips.

What I love about the Vernis is that the formula is without toluene, formaldehyde, phthalates or camphor. I think it’s great that more and more brands are using non toxic formulas.

(Toluene is toxic to the nervous system, impairs breathing, causes nausea, causes developmental damage to the foetus, and is linked to malignant lymphoma. Camphor can cause liver damage in rare cases when applied to skin. It has been linked to seizures when ingested. Formaldehyde is an embalming fluid, a well-known human carcinogen and can cause ear, nose, throat and skin irritations.- source)

Fluid Stick

The application is really easy since its got a round tapered applicator. I applied a small amount on the back on my hand which you can see in the swatch below has a vivid high gloss shine. When I apply the gloss to my lips the gloss feels very firm, it’s quite a stiff gloss and doesn’t really feel runny. I feel confidant in it’s ability to stay in place. On my lips the colour has a more red tone.

This has a flat and wide shaped brush, it makes application for one stroke effect much faster. I have to admit I am more used to a three stroke technique and I tend to have problems applying in full strokes. I know many though who find smaller brushes tedious so this is really down to preference.

The actual application though is good, the first coat should be applied thinly and then with a second coat you get a really nice layer of opaque colour. The polish has a really nice shine to it which for those ladies who often skip on top coat will love. I still applied a topcoat as I find that it will always prolong the life of my manicure.

I really love the colour it’s a beautiful bright coral but has a really nice pink tone, no wonder it’s one of Dior’s top 4 as it’s a colour which really compliments all skintones.

Fluid Stick

I think this has to be a fantastic hybrid for the girl who loves a gloss and doesn’t really like lipstick (I am usually one of those girls although I am really getting into lipsticks at the moment). It does have a slightly sticky feel but after a while you kind of get used to it and it’s not irritating but more like a firm film which coats the lip.

I love the new colours and I like the new texture, I am still not sure about the brush. I don’t think it’s the product more my application method is a little old school. I have had the same issue with other wider brushes before but it’s never impacted the quality of the application.

Both products complement each other beautifully!
I think its very chic to be able to match your lipgloss and your polish.

I think Dior has really gone all out on the launch of these products the campaign photos and videos are really something special. I adore the #thisisnotalipstick tag. Have you got any Dior faves to share with me?
