So many of you might have seen the Facebook announcement that Matalan is coming. I have known a couple of weeks now when I popped into BHS to check out the last few sale items. The shop was half open and they were renewing the sections.

In the Home section I spied Matalan brand products, and it was confirmed by staff that indeed the shop was changing. I am very excited to see whats new and here is a sneak peek of some photos of the collections which were arriving:

The new items are definitely more fashion forward. The prices are brilliant I can see myself spending a lot of cash here. For example the bed sets start from about 25 euro, I think price wise are the best on the island. I love the cute animal candles, the signs an the pillows! I am looking forward to seeing the shop fully stocked.

I really enjoyed shopping in BHS so I am glad that they are not closing the brand completely and are keeping the Valletta shop so I can still get my fix.

Bye bye BHS Sliema! Hello Matalan!

This is Dermalogica’s latest product, it’s been making waves abroad and I can’t wait to tell you why. I have been waiting for this product launch for months. A highly-active powder resurfacer that delivers your smoothest skin and helps fight skin aging caused by pollution.

I think this is a game changer. I used the trial size product for the first time last night and I fell in love. I honestly don’t know how to live my life without this product and already ordered my full size. I have never felt my skin so clean and smooth.

Skin Resurfacing.
Lactic Acid: re textures the skin, stimulates skin turnover and cellular regeneration. Increases hydration. Malic Acid: Helps remove dead skin cells, reduces the appearance of aging, promotes the production of collagen. Papain: Improves the skins luminosity, making the skin softer and smoother. Lipase: Breaks down sebum, makes it possible to remove the build up of pollution without harming the skins protective barrier. Subtiliain: An enzyme that eats away at dead skin cells.

Anti Pollution Technology.
Activated Binchotan Charcoal: resurfaces the skin, draws out impurities & excess sebum and pollution from the skin. Tara Fruit & Red Algae Extract: Together they form a film over the skin preventing pollution from entering the skin, and preserving the skins barrier function.

Anti Aging Ingredients.
Niacinaminde: Active vitamin B3 and an antoxidant. Reduces the production of sebum, and prevents pollution induced signs of aging. Rice Bran Extract: Antioxident rich, prevents skin ageing inflammation and improves collagen.

After cleansing, dispense about a half-teaspoon into very wet hands and create a creamy paste by rubbing hands together. Apply to face in circular motions, avoiding the eye area. Massage gently for one minute, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Use daily. For more sensitive skin, apply on alternate days until skin acclimates.” – Dermalogica

While I was massaging it over my skin I could instantly feel it working, my skin was becoming smoother under my fingertips. I felt my skin my subtle and while it was clean it was comfortable. The texture of the powder when mixed with water becomes quite creamy. I found it a little hard to control how much I poured. So you need to be careful not to waste powder by spilling to much.

The retail price is 61 euro so its quite expensive but there is 57 grams, so it should last quite a long time since you need just half a teaspoon. Considering the types of enzymes and technology used I can understand the price tag. Remember that this isn’t just a scrub, it is an anti pollution and anti aging product.

I am so impressed with this product, much more than I ever expected to be. My skin can tolerate quite active chemical exfoliation but I like using a physiological scrub every so often too, so I don’t think I will stop using my other exfoliation products.

I can’t wait to start using this as part of my routine. It has been almost 24 hours and my skin is still feeling super smooth and comfortable. My pores look cleaner, my skin feels firmer more supple. I am even more excited to start using this on my clients. I just know that this will be a sensational product with high delivering results.

The last couple of posts were about new makeup launches, but what about the wonderful world of fragrance? Recently Gucci launched a new ladies perfume called “Bamboo”.

a fragrance for the modern gucci woman, gucci bamboo is powerful yet feminine; a blend of exotic florals with deep woody notes.” – Gucci

When I saw the fragrance in the perfumery I stopped in my tracks, the bottle is stunning. Multifaceted. The shiny silver bottle top resembles not only the fragrances name, but also creates dimension in the overall aesthetic. Strong bold lines in the form of a diamond contrasting against the smooth round bamboo shoot. Inside the glass bottle the pale liquid dances around creating something absolutely beautiful, and extremely feminine.

The scent:

Top notes of bergamot , heart notes of casablanca lily and ylang ylang extra-comoros and base notes of sandalwood”  – Gucci

The mix gives the scent a wonderful citrus feel, although woody and intense. Tahitian vanilla creates a lovely sweet smell without being over powering. If you adore floral scents then this might be something to covet.

After Bamboo settled on my skin the scent was soft but noticeable. I have to say this one is on my wishlist! I felt like this was a very sensual fragrance perhaps because of the woody sandalwood base.

Have you tried it?
What’s your current go to scent?

Although I am not really the type to make New Years Resolutions (A new start doesn’t need to wait) I do like wishing for the next chapter to be a better one for me and my loved ones. 2014 had quite a few lows but there was also some pretty intense highs. I am hopeful that 2015 will bring us the changes we crave, bring new possibilities so we will prosper. Most importantly I wish us all good health.

December has ended. January started off with a new year, a new year with new beginning and new hopes. A new year hoping to be successful and hoping all your efforts and hard work to be paid off. This is a chance of a lifetime and a chance to starts all over again. – Wazim Shaw

This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

May 2015 hold everything you desire.

Time to make space…

“Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don’t.” – Steve Maraboli

That dress you used to love you’re sick of but just cant get the balls to throw it out. The pair of comfortable jogging bottoms which are grey from washing too much… The top you spent way too much on but have nothing to wear with it? Or those shoes you thought you would die without but just kill your toes to wear?

Yes we all have these items hanging in our wardrobes.

Today, I got the courage to sort them ALL out! Although I periodically spring clean I was merciless to everything that I haven’t worn, that was ever so slightly faded or just didn’t fit right. Because what’s the use of holding onto something that you no longer use? For it stay there just staring at me each time I open my wardrobe?

Make space for new beautiful things to enter your life!

Since I am off for my holiday next week, I am hoping to pick up some new collection’s on my travels. Welcome Spring colours!
